About the Role

As a cherry picker, you’ll be harvesting high-quality cherries in orchards across Cromwell and nearby locations. The work is physically active and perfect for anyone who enjoys being outdoors and working in a team environment.

What the job involves:

• Picking cherries using a harness and bucket (around 5kg when full)

• Climbing ladders (training provided)

• Being flexible – hours and work schedules can change quickly depending on weather and crop conditions

• Early morning starts (between 6am–7am) – leaving your evenings free to relax

• Piece rate pay – the more you pick, the more you earn! (Minimum wage guaranteed)

• Work across different tree structures for variety and ease of picking

• Working around the weather – we usually don’t pick on rainy days

About the Role

As a bucket runner, you’ll collect buckets, monitor fruit quality, and work closely with team leads to keep the harvest running smoothly.

What the job involves:

• Collecting full cherry buckets and taking them to the bin area

• Using a quad bike to transport full bins to the correct location

• Monitoring bin numbers and making sure bin cards are filled out and attached

• Assessing fruit quality and checking bucket fill levels

• Reporting issues directly to the team lead so problems are fixed quickly

• Assisting with loading the truck/trailer and shifting bins if you have tractor or forklift experience

• Early morning starts (between 6am – 7am) – leaving your evenings free to relax

• Working around the weather – flexibility is essential as schedules can change daily

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need orchard experience – just a proactive approach, initiative, and a positive attitude.

You are:

• Physically fit – able to carry 2-4 buckets (around 5kg each) and being on the move all day is no problem for you

• Responsible and reliable – you take ownership and think ahead

• Quality-focused – you care about the fruit and check it meets standards

• Comfortable with machinery – experience with quads is great, but we’ll train you

• Safety-focused – you follow instructions and look after the gear and the fruit

• A confident communicator – you work closely with pickers and team leads to keep things running smoothly

About the Role

As a Team Leader, you’ll guide a crew of 14+ pickers through each harvest day – supporting them to pick quality fruit, stay safe, and meet performance targets.

What the job involves:

• Managing your team to meet daily harvest goals

• Monitoring fruit quality and providing on-the-spot training

• Giving feedback to pickers to help them improve and stay on target

• Keeping accurate records such as timesheets

• Ensuring your team follows all Health & Safety procedures

• Supporting and motivating your team to perform their potential
