We are seeking one or two dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our team.

Position one is a Dairy Farm Assistant. This position involves a wide range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the health and productivity of the dairy herd, maintaining farm equipment, and supporting overall farm management.

Position two is Calf Rearer. This position will work along side our two current calf rearers to support the growth and development of our calves during the calf rearing season.

The ideal candidates will possess a combination of practical skills, knowledge, and interpersonal qualities to contribute to the success of our farm operation. Both candidates must be physically fit and must be comfortable lifting calves, bags of minerals or grain and other heavy items in a safe and controlled manner.

These are both fixed term positions but may be extended for the right person/people.

Key Responsibilities:

FA: Farm assistant

CR: Calf rearer

·     Animal Husbandry (FA & CR): Provide basic care for dairy cattle and calves, including feeding, milking, and health monitoring.

·     Milking (FA): Operate milking machinery and apply best practice techniques to ensure efficient and effective milking.

·     Health Monitoring (FA & CR): Observe calves and cattle for signs of illness or distress and report any issues promptly.

·     Physical Labor (FA & CR): Perform manual labor tasks, including heavy lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods.

·     Teamwork (FA & CR): Collaborate with other farm staff to maintain a positive and productive team environment.

·     Communication (FA & CR): Report issues and follow instructions from supervisors with clear verbal communication.

·     Time Management (FA & CR): Prioritise tasks effectively to meet the demands of the daily farm schedule.

·     Mechanical Skills (FA & CR): Assist with the operation and maintenance of farm equipment.

·     Record Keeping (FA & CR): Maintain accurate records related to animal health, milking schedules, and feed intake as required.

·     Safety Awareness (FA & CR): Follow farm safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.

·     Adaptability (FA & CR): Learn new skills and adapt to changing farm practices and technologies.

·     Initiative (FA & CR): Demonstrate self-motivation by taking on tasks and responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Skills/Qualifications:

·      Basic understanding of dairy cattle care and animal husbandry.

·      Familiarity with milking machinery and proper milking techniques are benificial but not required.

·       Strong attention to detail and ability to observe cattle for signs of       illness or distress.

·       Physical fitness to handle manual labor tasks.

·       Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

·       Good verbal communication skills.

·       Effective time management skills.

·       Basic mechanical skills for operating and maintaining equipment.

·       Knowledge and understanding or willingness to learn basic farm safety protocols.
