Kiwifruit Harvest Season Positions Available

Western Orchards is a small, family-owned Kiwifruit Packhouse and contracting business based near Katikati. With over 30 years in the industry, we take pride in delivering world-class kiwifruit to global markets and maintaining a strong reputation for quality and professionalism.

The harvest is approaching, and we are seeking energetic, hardworking individuals to join our Packhouse Team for the upcoming season.

About the Role

Working in the packhouse is the heart of the harvest. You will be part of a high-energy team ensuring only the best fruit makes it into the box. Positions include:

• Grading: Identifying and removing fruit that doesn't meet Zespri standards.

• Packing: Carefully placing fruit into boxes / trays at a fast pace.

• Tray Prep: Placing plastic bags in boxes / trays, then placing them on a conveyor.

• Stacking: Stacking fruit boxes on pallets.

• Strapping: Strapping pallets and preparing them for cold storage.

What We’re Looking For

We need team players who are:

• Detail-Oriented: Able to spot blemishes and defects quickly.

• Reliable & Physically Fit: Comfortable standing for long periods in a fast-paced environment.

• Flexible: Ready to work shifts as the fruit matures and the harvest ramps up.

• Available: To work Monday to Sunday, typically between 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM. (One scheduled day off will be provided in relation to the fruit supply)

What We Offer

• Competitive Pay: $25.38 per hour (including holiday pay).

• Fixed-Term Employment: Primarily covering the harvest window (Estimated March – June, dates subject to fruit maturity).

• Great Atmosphere: A supportive, social, and inclusive indoor work environment.

• Open to All: We welcome applications from NZ residents and those with a valid Working Holiday Visa. Please provide proof of eligibiltiy to work in New Zealand.

• Accommodation: Limited accommodation is available and caravan or motorhome parking spots on our on-site campground. All spots are $70.00 per person per week.
